The new 3,100 ton Central Utility Plant was designed to serve the hospital expansion utilizing four extremely high efficient centrifugal chillers, four cooling towers, two 8 million BTU/h heating boilers, three 750kw generators, new medical air compressors, new medical vacuum system and seven 9.5 hp steam boilers.

The central plant was designed to optimize energy performance for the facility in all aspects.  The pumping system utilizes variable speed drives and primary secondary pumping to reduce energy consumption during part loads.  All motors are premium efficient.  Equipment was selected for optimization of energy and durability to withstand the new generation of hospital demands.
